چکیده

Salicylates are widely used in the treatment of rheumatic disorders, and they have been shown to induce minor changes in renal function. One of the major mechanisms of action of salicylates is the suppression of prostaglandin synthetase activity, and in animal rnodels renal prostaglandin production is closely related to renin release and the regulation of renal blood flow. Indomethacin has been shown to decrease the glomerular filtration rate and to lower plasma renin activity in human beings, and to reduce the antihypertensive effectiveness of certain beta-adrenoreceptor-blocking agents. We therefore studied the effects of aspirin, another commonly prescribed non-steroidal antiinflammatory agent, on plasma renin concentration, both during administration and after withdrawal.

Fingolimod is an oral drug which modulates the S1P receptor and is used for relapsing remitting form of MS and can causes rebound activity if it is ceased even in a short period of washout time.   Case Report: Here, we introduce a young girl, a known case of MS, who developed revers...

Angiotensin II mediates systemic rebound hypertension after cessation of prostacyclin infusion in sheep.

Prostacyclin (or epoprostenol), an arachidonic acid metabolite, is an effective treatment for patients with primary pulmonary hypertension. Interruption of chronic prostacyclin infusion can result in recurrent symptoms of dyspnea and fatigue. The etiology of this phenomenon is unknown. We hypothesized that sympathoadrenal activation could lead to increased vascular tone after abrupt termination...

Renal scarring secondary to vesicourethral reflux is associated with an increased incidence of hypertension, which has been reported in up to 38% of children with reflux nephropathy. In this study the results of captopril test on 20 patients with reflux nephropathy(reflux+Scarring) were assessed within 8 months. For this purpose we studied the plasma renin activity and blood pressure r...

Experimental reactivation of subsiding rheumatic fever.

When anti-inflammatory therapy is reduced or discontinued in patients with acute rheumatic fever, a flare-up of disease activity frequently occurs, manifested by clinical abnormalities or by changes only in laboratory tests. The nature of this rebound phenomenon was recently analyzed in a retrospective survey of 265 patients with acute rheumatic fever (1, 2). The results indicated that most cli...
